Xiaomi has announced a number of devices this year, including a lot of smartphones. The company has released Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, Redmi 2, Redmi 2A, Mi 4i and the 2GB variant of Mi 4 thus far, but device releases are far from over it seems. The company still has to release the Redmi Note 2 and Mi 5 before the end of 2015, amongst other offerings, of course. That being said, we’ve seen a ton of leaks regarding both of these handsets, and are here to talk more about the Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus which also surfaced a couple of times.

Both the Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus have been leaked a lot recently, the former one being Xiaomi’s smartphone flagships, and the latter Xiaomi’s phablet flagship offering. A while back, rumors have been saying that Xiaomi intends to use the Snapdragon 810 in order to fuel the Mi 5, but those rumors didn’t last for long though. Additional reports started coming in saying that the company intends to replace the Snapdragon 810 with Snapdragon 820 due to overheating issues that were mentioned so many times thus far. Well, according to a new report from China, Xiaomi might opt to use the Snapdragon 810 in the Mi 5, and the Snapdragon 820 in the Mi 5 Plus.

Take this rumor with a pinch of salt, of course, we cannot confirm how legit it is. This choice seems rather odd though, because the Mi 5 is Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone for this year, and it seems odd Xiaomi would opt to make the Mi 5 Plus more powerful than the Mi 5. The overheating issues of the Snapdragon 810 have been mentioned a number of times thus far, and a Japanese carrier, NTT DoCoMo, has even confirmed such issues recently. Anyhow, both the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus are expected to offer premium build quality, and according to the latest info, they might launch in September this year. The Xiaomi Mi 5 will probably ship with a 5.2-inch QuadHD display, and the Mi 5 Plus might feature a 6-inch QuadHD panel. 3 or 4GB of RAM will be available here as well, and as its the case with Xiaomi’s devices, you can expect really appealing price points when these two handsets are concerned.

I’ve always been interested in technology but when I got my first Android phone years ago I was hooked. Mobile technology has been my first priority ever since. I’m currently using the LG G3 phablet, even though I’m prone to using Nexus devices, but I sold my Nexus 5 smartphone and the Nexus 6 is just too big (and pricey) for me. Other than technology I also enjoy football, movies and TV shows along with socializing with my friends and family.
