This isn’t your typical drop test, where someone drops it outside on concrete, but still pretty impressive. This YouTuber drops the new Galaxy S6 Active inside his kitchen on tile and no marks were left, so he decided to climb up a ladder and drop it from about 12 feet high, and not a single mark was left on the Active. Pretty amazing. Not even so much as a dent. Now we just need someone to go outside and drop it from 12 feet high on a street, and see if we get the same results, I’m willing to be the results won’t be the same.
For a smartphone that is marketed as a highly durable smartphone, as well as being waterproof. This is definitely good news. Samsung’s purpose with the Galaxy S6 Active is to provide a durable smartphone – some people need a crazy durable smartphone, for example those in construction – without having to compromise. The Galaxy S6 Active has all the same features of the Galaxy S6, and the same specs, except for one. And that’s the fingerprint sensor. Samsung decided to leave out the fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S6 Active, which is probably because the home button isn’t the same as on the Galaxy S6. The Active also has a much larger battery, almost 1,000mAh larger in size.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active launched on AT&T on Friday – and we do have one in hand – of course it’s exclusive to the carrier, as was the Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy S5 Active ahead of that. We’ve been using the device all weekend, and it seems to be a pretty decent smartphone, and even fixed our biggest complaint on the Galaxy S6 which was battery life. So far it doesn’t seem to be amazing, but it should get you through a full day’s use, which we couldn’t say about the Galaxy S6, unfortunately. The Galaxy S6 Active is available now fro $ 199 on contract, or $ 0 down with $ 23.17 per month on AT&T’s installment plans. They are also available on AT&T Next, which you can check out their site for more details.
