Motorola’s popular flagship handset, the Moto X, is expected to get an announcement and unveiling sometime this summer, making it the third generation of the smartphone. The details surrounding Motorola’s 3rd Gen. Moto X are scarce, however there are a few rumors which have been floating around about the device that seem to suggest certain features of the phone. Just last week it was rumored that a leaked image of the Moto X 2015 had surfaced which may have been pointing to Motorola’s planned use of a fingerprint sensor in this year’s version of the handset, but not more than a day later another leak showed up which quickly reversed that rumor as it showed up without a fingerprint sensor present.
Very early this morning, Twitter leaker @Upleaks posted a tweet which seemingly includes a press render of the new device, although it’s hard to tell because the image is extremely small and is more the size of a thumbnail image instead of a proper press render. It’s also blurry at best, so it’s hard to make out any real detail about the phone other than the fact that the camera is placed on the back. It also looks like the dimple which is usually seen stamped with the Motorola logo is present on the back sitting below the rear camera, which suggest this is a new Motorola device. It also appears as if the phone features dual front-facing stereo speakers like the Moto X 2014 and although too small to tell for sure it looks like you can make out the notifications on the lockscreen as part of Motorola’s Active Display feature.
Motorola is still quiet about the Moto X 2014 successor, but back at the end of May it was reported that a Verizon engineer had leaked some details about the new phone to come. According to those leaks, the new Moto X will possibly feature a Quad-HD resolution screen as well as a microSD card slot for expandable storage, with possible increases in the rear and front facing cameras over last year’s model, potentially 16MP and 5MP respectively, although those details are not confirmed and are mere speculation at this point. As the image below is neither clear enough nor large enough to really tell if this is the new Moto X or not, take things with a grain of salt.
