Meizu M2 Pops Up In China, Physical Home Button In Tow

Meizu is, next to Xiaomi, one of the fastest-growing smartphone manufacturers in the world. Meizu still doesn’t have Xiaomi’s numbers, not even close actually, and there are a number of China-based OEMs that are selling more devices than Meizu, but this company’s growth-rate is promising. They’ve announced the Meizu M2 Note quite recently, yet another really solid mid-range smartphone, and a direct successor to the Meizu M1 Note. Meizu has released a number of compelling smartphones last year, and also the Meizu M1 in January this year. Speaking of the M1 Note, we have some news regarding its possible successor, read on.

The Meizu M1 sported a 5-inch 1280 x 768 display, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. This handset was powered by MediaTek’s MT6732 quad-core SoC, and was extremely affordable. The M1 is basically a smaller, lower-specced version of the M1 Note, and it seems like Meizu is working on its successor already, or an another similar device. If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll see three images, all of which leaked in China recently. You get to see the phone’s body, as well as the mBack physical home button which will most probably be included in this device as well. It seems like Meizu is trying to exclude capacitive ‘dot’ button altogether, and is moving towards the physical home buttons for some reason.

The images down below aren’t all that revealing, but it seems like Meizu is working on a Meizu M2 already. Either way, we don’t really have that much spec info at the moment, but according to the info from China, this thing will be a smaller version of M2 Note, as expected. The question remains though, will it offer the same specs as the M2 Note this time around, or will we be looking at a lower-end handset again? Well, we’ll have to wait and see, but according to some previous info, the M2 might even offer the same spec sheet as the M2 Note. Either way, stay tuned, we’ll report back as soon as some additional info pops up.
