After weeks of rumors, leaks and official teasers by the company, Vivo has finally unveiled their X5Pro handset. Long story short, the majority of leaked materials were spot on as far as this device’s build and specs go. The Vivo X5Pro is a premium built mid-range handset by the company which features a retina scanner up front. The device has been unveiled a couple of days ago, and first unboxings of this handset have taken place in China, so let’s check out what lays inside of this package, shall we.
If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll be able to take a closer look at Vivo’s newest handset, courtesy of Anzhuo. Keep in mind that the retail packaging most certainly won’t look like this though, this is a special edition packaging, the retail packaging will be what we’re already used to. Anyhow, the box isn’t what we’re here to talk about, but what’s inside of it. Vivo X5Pro is a rather interesting device, no matter which way you look at it. This is a mid-range offering by the company, and yet it offers a premium build quality, a retina scanner and an ability to shoot 32-megapixel images with its front-facing 8-megapixel shooter. The phone sports a metallic frame which is placed in between two sheets of 2.5D curved glass, which makes this device looks really premium. There are three capacitive buttons located below the display: menu, home and back, respectively.
The Vivo X5Pro sports a 5.2-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display (which is a rarity outside of the Galaxy line) along with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). This handset is powered by MediaTek’s MT6752 64-bit octa-core SoC and it ships with a 2,300mAh battery on the inside. The 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this handset and it offers PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) technology. The 8-megapixel camera is available up front and, as mentioned before, it is capable of taking 32-megapixel images by stitching a number of 8-megapixel shots. This is a dual-SIM handset and 4G LTE connectivity is also a part of the package. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Vivo’s FunTouch 2.1 OS on top of it.
There you have it folks, there are a number of images in the gallery down below for you to check out. This handset will be available for purchase in China starting May 25th for 2,598 Yuan / $ 419 (16GB variant) and 2,698 Yuan / $ 435 (32GB variant), Vivo did not say when will it roll out to other markets though.

I’ve always been interested in technology but when I got my first Android phone years ago I was hooked. Mobile technology has been my first priority ever since. I’m currently using the LG G3 phablet, even though I’m prone to using Nexus devices, but I sold my Nexus 5 smartphone and the Nexus 6 is just too big (and pricey) for me. Other than technology I also enjoy football, movies and TV shows along with socializing with my friends and family.
