Top Android Homescreen May 17th: Seashore

Seashore

It’s Sunday, and that means it’s time for another homescreen design to light up your devices and carry you through the next week, or however long you plan on keeping this one. Just like most of our designs that are featured, we found this one via mycolorscreen. If you like the look of the design and want to recreate it on your own device, there are a few things you’re going to need before you can get things rolling. We’ll break down what you need by telling you what apps to install and then give you the basics of how to set things up.

First and foremost you’ll need a third-party app launcher to do the customizations. Nova Launcher Prime is the recommended launcher here. Next you’ll also need Zooper widgets pro as this is how you’ll apply the widget skins. You’ll also need Media Utilities so you can configure the music controls on the music player widget for this design. Once you have all of the apps installed, don’t forget to grab the Zooper widget skin itself which you can do by hitting this Play Store link. After you’ve got everything you need, start by heading into Nova settings and configure your homescreen grid to 10 x 5. After this step, make sure you remove the dock and the scroll bar.

Once you have all the settings as needed, you should have one homescreen page which will house both widgets. Simply longpress on the homescreen, select add widget, scroll to find Zooper and select any size, then find the appropriate “Seashore” widgets and apply them. Resize each to the 5 x 5 grid size so they both fit. For Media Utilities, enter the application, select Zooper widget, select to use alternative data collection and make sure to also select “attempt direct control,” “cover art available,” and “send song progress.” That should be it. Now you have a new homescreen design to give your device a fresh look. If you liked this design be sure to show your appreciation for the creator “behemoth” by hitting the love button on mycolorscreen, and as always have a great rest of the weekend and happy theming!!
