From time to time, T-Mobile will drop the price of their SIM starter kit – which is offered to Prepaid and Simple Choice No Credit Check customers – to either $ 0.99 or free. Right now, they appear to be free. So if you need to pick up a few spare SIM cards, now is the time to do so. You can always just put these SIM cards on your account, without adding an extra line. Which is a big plus if you ever lose your SIM card or need a nano SIM and you have a micro one. And sometimes, T-Mobile – and other carriers – like to charge between $ 10 and $ 20 for a new SIM card. Depending on the store.
T-Mobile recently started their $ 100 off promo on select Samsung devices, and this appears to be yet another promo. According to TmoNews, a memo they saw stated:
“we’re cutting the price of the SIM Starter Kit to $ 0 for all Pay in Advance and Simple Choice No Credit (SCNC) activations and add-a-lines nationwide. Now is the best time to activate Prepaid with the Un-carrier. Seriously. $ 0 for the SIM Starter Kit!”
If you have an unlocked smartphone, just order the SIM starter kit from T-Mobile and you can enjoy T-Mobile’s service – and ultimately see if it’s worth the price and switch from your current carrier – before getting a new device from T-Mobile, like the Samsung Galaxy S6. This pricing is evidently live from now until June 30th. So about 45 days for this promo.
Currently, T-Mobile is the number one prepaid brand. Partially due to them buying MetroPCS just a little while ago. And they’ve dethroned the long king in Prepaid, Sprint (primarily their sub-brands Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile). Now it appears that T-Mobile is looking to extend that lead and maintain their number one position for a bit. This promo is supposedly for both corporate retailers as well as third-party retailers. So basically anyone that sells T-Mobile smartphones should be able to give you a free SIM Starter Kit. Now that’s definitely a big deal.
Remember, if you’re on Verizon, T-Mobile’s #NeverSettleForVerizon promo is still going on, through the end of the month. So definitely a good time to check it out. And if you like it, switch over to T-Mobile and get a free SIM card.
