Xiaomi a very interesting company, this China-based smartphone manufacturer has managed to become China’s number one smartphone OEM in less than five years and they’re constantly growing. It has been over 5 years since the company was founded at this point, and Xiaomi is manufacturing all sorts of tech products now. The company is manufacturing smartphones, TVs, tablets and all sorts of smart gadgets like smart scales, smart lightbulbs, etc. The company is also responsible for their very own Android-based OS, MIUI. It seems like that’s not enough for this Chinese company though, at least according to the latest report.
According to a new report from China, Xiaomi is looking to enter the mobile SoC business. Leadcore is a China-based company which manufactures mobile processors, a company which not many people have heard of at this point. Well, Leadcore’s Vice President, Marchal Cheng, had something interesting to say in a recent interview. Mr. Cheng has revealed that Leadcore has talked with Xiaomi in regards to Xiaomi’s very own mobile SoC, he claims that Xiaomi asked Leadcore to design a custom SoC for Xiaomi. It seems like Xiaomi and Leadcore have partnered up and are working together on many levels, at least according to Leadcore’s VP.
Mr. Cheng wasn’t able to reveal any details, of course, but this sounds interesting either way. This means that Xiaomi will join the likes of Samsung and Huawei, and will be a brand which manufactures both smartphones and mobile processors. Leadcore’s VP has denied the rumors which suggested that Xiaomi has invested in Leadcore and claims that the company is still state-owned. He also said that such move by Xiaomi was inevitable, this will give the company an edge and will help them avoid any supply shortages, and all similar problems.
This information wasn’t officially confirmed by Xiaomi at this point, but considering the source, there’s not much room left for doubt. We’re waiting for additional details regarding this partnership, and an official confirmation by Xiaomi. As a side note, Xiaomi has already unveiled the Leadcore-powered Redmi 2A handset back in March, and it seems like we’re going to see plenty more devices powered by Leadcore’s SoCs in the future.

I’ve always been interested in technology but when I got my first Android phone years ago I was hooked. Mobile technology has been my first priority ever since. I’m currently using the LG G3 phablet, even though I’m prone to using Nexus devices, but I sold my Nexus 5 smartphone and the Nexus 6 is just too big (and pricey) for me. Other than technology I also enjoy football, movies and TV shows along with socializing with my friends and family.
